✦ Ameliorate Resources · Google Business Profile

Google’s AI may have called your business. Here’s what it wrote down.

Google has an automated assistant that can call, text or WhatsApp the phone number on your Business Profile to confirm details about your business. Whatever your team says back can end up on your profile. As of September, Google lets you see exactly what it collected, and delete anything that’s wrong. It’s in a new tab called Collected info.

What the tab shows.

Three things.
📞

What it gathered

Details Google’s assistant collected from phone or chat conversations with your business.

📅

Where and when

Where each detail came from and the date it was collected.

💬

Original language

Each item appears in the language it was given in.

Google says this information is used to match your business with customers looking for services like yours. So if it’s wrong, the wrong customers may find you, or the right ones may not.

How to check it.

About five minutes.
1

Open your Business Profile

Sign in to the Google account that manages it.

2

Select Edit profile

It’s in your profile’s management panel.

3

Open the Collected info tab

Don’t see it? Your area, language or business category may not have it yet.

4

Read each item

Check hours, services, prices and anything else it lists against what’s actually true.

5

Delete anything wrong

Select Delete on that item.

One thing to know: deleting an item removes it from Google’s records, but it doesn’t change anything else already on your profile. If a wrong detail made it onto your public profile, fix it there too.

Prevent bad info.

Whoever answers is updating Google.

Google’s assistant contacts the verified phone number on your profile. Whoever answers that line is effectively updating your Google listing.

  • Brief your front desk. Make sure anyone who answers knows your current hours, services and service area.
  • Check the tab monthly, and after any call you suspect came from Google.
  • Keep your profile complete so there’s less for the assistant to ask about. Our Google Business Profile checklist covers every field.

Why this connects to AI search.

One profile, many places.

Your Business Profile feeds Google Maps, regular search results and the AI summaries Google now shows on most business-name searches. Wrong details in one place can spread to all of them. More on that in what Google’s AI says about your business.

Quick questions.

Is the call really from Google?

Google says its automated assistant may contact your verified number by call, text or WhatsApp. If you’re unsure about a specific call, don’t share anything you wouldn’t put on your public profile.

Does deleting an item hurt my profile?

Deleting removes that item from Google’s records. It doesn’t change other details on your profile.

Why don’t I see the tab?

It’s only available in select regions, languages and business categories for now.

Who can see it?

Google hasn’t said which profile roles have access beyond owners. Check from the owner account first.
