If you're running paid ads, you're paying to create demand. Your Google Business Profile is what turns that demand into customers — and, increasingly, what decides whether AI search recommends you at all. Here's how the two work together, and a simple checklist to keep your profile pulling its weight. Your profile is layer 1 of our Local SEO Priority Stack →
Every search that triggers your ad is a signal — proof of what your customers want, in their exact words.
People who see your ad then look you up. Your profile is the landing spot — and the source Google's AI reads to describe you.
When someone asks Google or Maps about your business, AI often answers instantly — pulling from your profile, reviews, photos, and website, not from a box you control.
The old Q&A section on Business Profiles was retired in late 2025. You can't seed it anymore — the AI answers for you now.
So the data you feed your profile is the raw material the AI uses. Complete and fresh tends to mean accurate answers. Thin or stale means the AI fills the gaps itself.
Add specific services that match what people search for. Then click back into each one to open its description field and write 1–2 plain, specific sentences. This is structured info the AI reads directly, and it can earn a "Provides: [service]" label on your map listing.
e.g. "Full- and half-day camps in [City]. Weekly themes. Ages 7–14."Create visual cards for your top 3–5 offers. Each gets a real photo, a short description, and a button linked to the specific page for that offer — not your homepage.
A short update (100–200 words) about a current offer or event, with a clear button to book or enroll. Fresh posts are the simplest "we're active" signal you can send.
Actual photos from your location — your space, your team, real moments. Not stock. Google's image recognition can tell the difference, and real photos increasingly feed AI answers.
Skip "Thanks!" Name the specific program, service, or detail. Detailed reviews and replies help the AI understand and describe what you actually offer.
e.g. "So glad Maya loved the Minecraft camp!"Google sometimes auto-adds incorrect services to your profile. Review the list and delete anything wrong or off-brand.
Look at what people are actually searching for and turn the top question into profile content — a service description and a fresh post that answers it directly. Running ads with us? This is where your search-terms data does double duty: we feed it straight back into your profile.
Input upcoming holiday closures before they arrive so customers — and the AI — always have the right hours.
Update your business description to match the season — "Now enrolling for summer…", "Back-to-school…" — so it reflects what you're actually promoting right now.
Each of these is a small signal. Stacked together and kept current, they tell Google — and the AI answering on Google's behalf — that you're active, specific, and trustworthy. The payoff shows up in three places:
More sections filled, more reasons for Google to surface you — and for customers to pick you.
When customers ask AI about you, it describes what you actually offer — not its best guess.
The same freshness feeds the ads you're already running. Same effort, working on every front at once.
